SPALDING MUSIC
Archbishop Spalding’s music program began in 1987 when band was added to the curriculum - 15 students registered. As we celebrate our 25th year of making music, over 350 of our 1,200 students are active in Spalding Music.

MUSIC FESTIVALS
Each year Spalding Music bands, ensembles, and vocal groups travel to compete and perform at local and national festivals. Spalding student-musicians consistently receive 'Superior' ratings. They've brought home Championship trophies from:
- Toronto, Canada
- Orlando, FL
- Gatlinburg, TN
- Myrtle Beach, SC
- Virginia Beach, VA
HONORS & ALL STATES
Each year Spalding's exceptional student-musicians are inducted into the Tri-M Musical Honor Society and selected to join other top performers in the Maryland All State Bands, Orchestras and Choruses - as well as the MMEA, Baltimore Archdiocese Music Teacher Council, and Towson Honors ensembles.
ACADEMIC CREDIT
One credit in the Arts is required for graduation from Spalding. Students can receive credit in the following Music classes that meet each day:
- Concert Band, Symphonic Band, & Wind Ensemble
- Chorus 101, Mixed Chorus, Honors Mixed Chorus
- String Ensemble, Honors String Ensemble
- Guitar I, Guitar II, Guitar III, Guitar Ensemble

Mrs. Huesgen and Mrs. Hough have both received Archbishop Spalding’s Teacher of the Year Award and the music faculty shares over 75 years of teaching experience.
