The Archbishop Spalding Library Media Center (LMC) is a 5,752 square-foot multilevel facility with 25,000 items in the collection to serve the educational and recreational reading and information needs of the Spalding Community. The first floor houses the LMC’s reference collection, and has student seating, student computers (PCs and MACs), printers, a non-networked student computer for color printing, a coin-operated copier, a Chromebook computer cart, and an AV storage room for most of the non-print items and equipment. The second floor overlooks the first floor and houses the circulating collection, computer stations, study carrels and desks. The Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) and online databases can be accessed in school or remotely via the LMC PowerSchool page.

The LMC's print reference collection includes many specialized encyclopedias (New Catholic Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of American Civil Rights and Liberties, The Military History of the United States, plus the very popular “For Students” series) that support the curriculum of the school. Unique to Spalding is the tradition of checking out reference books overnight. The circulating collection is varied and supports both sides of controversial issues in support of the major sophomore debate unit. Another major strength of the LMC’s collection is literary criticism for the junior and senior research papers. Reading for pleasure is encouraged with participation in the Maryland Black-Eyed Susan High School reading program. All members of the Spalding Community are encouraged to suggest titles for the collection.
