Archbishop Spalding High School Celebrates National Signing Day
Read MoreSEVERN, MD - Archbishop Spalding High School celebrated National Signing Day on November 8th, with 30 student-athletes signing letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. The athletes represented a variety of sports, including baseball, softball, field hockey, lacrosse, track and field, soccer, sailing, and volleyball."We are so proud of our student-athletes for all of their hard work and dedication," said Archbishop Spalding Athletic Director Jonathan Mellinger. However, the celebration now includes Division 3 to celebrate the very few student-athletes that move on to play a sport in college/university altogether.The National Signing Day ceremony was held in the Archbishop Spalding Performing Arts Center and was attended by family, friends, coaches, and administrators. The event was a celebration of the student-athletes' accomplishments and their bright futures ahead."We are so grateful for the support of our community," said Mellinger. "It is truly an honor to be a part of such a special day." -
Boys Volleyball Finishes Season with Best Record in Nearly a Decade
Read MoreThe boys’ volleyball team concluded the regular season with a record of 12 wins and 6 losses, the highest number of wins in nearly ten years. The team also earned a #5 seed in the playoffs for their efforts.One of the younger athletic programs at Spalding, boys’ volleyball has been steadily improving its roster size and skill level to make a significant jump in the standings this season. In addition, the increase in physical size and strength was also evident as the Cavaliers nearly tripled their win total from last season.The Cavaliers traveled to Gilman in the pivotal #4 v. #5 seeded matchup and struggled in their A Conference playoff debut, falling in straight sets. However, the foundation for future success has been laid for seasons to come.‘I could not be more proud of what this team has accomplished this season,’ third-year head coach Eric Raynor stated. ‘We’ll take this playoff loss on the chin a bit, but it absolutely does not define our season. The hard work and dedication of this team makes me very proud and excited for next year.’With only two graduating seniors and a host of younger talent on junior varsity, the team looks to reload for the 2024 campaign. -

2023 JV Rugby Champions
Read MoreJV Rugby Completes Undefeated Season with ChampionshipSpalding JV Rugby completed an undefeated 2023 campaign with a 15-0 victory over Loyola Blakefield on Wednesday, May 10th. The team finished with a final record of 6-0-1 and outscored their opponents 219-46.Many of the rugby players are in their first year of competition and the future continues to look bright for the JV and Varsity teams.

2024-2025 Cheer & Dance Team Tryouts
Prior to April 20th, ALL students interested in trying out for the 2024-2025 Cheer or Dance Team must complete the Athlete Registration FormRead MoreAdditionally, any student who wishes to participate in athletics at Spalding must have the below information completed annually in their Magnus Health Account prior to the start of tryouts:
1. Vital Health Record2. Annual physical completed by parent & physician on Spalding Physical Form3. Medication Authorization Form (if applicable)4. Asthma, Allergy, Diabetes, Seizure plan (if applicable)All forms must be uploaded directly to the Magnus Health Account - paper or emailed copies will not be accepted. Magnus Uploading Instructions
Dance Team: Monday, April 29th & Tuesday, May 1st from 3:30-5:30pm at C&C Dance Co. (4891 Tesla Drive- Suites H-L, Bowie, MD 20715). Dancers should arrive at 3:00pm both days to stretch. Please email dance@spaldinghs.org with questions.
Cheerleading: Monday, May 13th & Tuesday, May 14th from 4:00-6:30pm in the Auxiliary Gym. Evals begin on Wednesday, May 15th at 3:00pm. Please email cheer@spaldinghs.org with questions.
Pre-Tryout Information Meeting will be held for current 9th-11th graders on Wednesday, March 27th at 2:45pm in Room 126. Please email cheer@spaldinghs.org if you have any questions or are unable to attend.
Attendance at the May tryout is required for anyone interested in being a part of the competitive cheerleading team for the 2024-2025 school year.
