  • Associate Director of Advancement

    Job Description: Archbishop Spalding is seeking an Associate Director Advancement. As an active member of the Spalding family, this individual’s goal is to develop and promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the Archbishop Spalding community - students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends. Our goal is to advance Spalding's Catholic mission to provide an environment in which students are encouraged to reach their potential academically, spiritually, and physically. 

    Primary Responsibility: The Associate Director of Advancement reports to the Vice President of Advancement, and works closely with the school President, Advancement staff and volunteers. The Associate Director of Advancement is responsible for assisting in the planning, execution and evaluation of a comprehensive advancement program to general annual gifts and event participation from all Archbishop Spalding constituencies, ensuring that Spalding’s advancement efforts are directed at increasing donor support, both monetarily and in participation. The Associate Director assists in the development and implementation of the annual giving program and the execution of certain advancement/fundraising events. This position will set and implement strategy for the Spalding Fund including the identification, recruitment, training, and cultivation of leadership committee members and key volunteers. Other duties as assigned. 

    Essential Duties: 
    Fundraising: Develop and implement fundraising strategies to meet annual giving goals, including the Spalding Fund, major gifts, and planned giving. Cultivate relationships with donors, alumni, parents, and other supporters to solicit donations and maintain ongoing support. Grow the school’s annual fund through key initiatives including Day of Giving, digital and print appeals, etc. Identify, cultivate, recruit, and develop fundraising volunteers. 

    Event Planning: Plan and execute special events, such as donor receptions, fundraising galas, alumni gatherings, and community outreach events. Coordinate event logistics, manage budgets, and oversee event promotion and attendance.

    Marketing and Communications: Collaborate with the school's communications team to develop marketing materials, newsletters, and other communication pieces to promote advancement initiatives and highlight the school's achievements and impact. 

    Database Management: Supported by the Database Manager and the Advancement team, all team members work together to maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donors, alumni, and other constituents in the school's database. This role will generate reports, analyze donor data, and track fundraising progress to inform strategic decision-making. 

    Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of the comprehensive advancement plan and ensure that identified goals and strategies are effectively and efficiently accomplished. 

    Stewardship: Collaborate to determine and implement stewardship programs to recognize and thank donors for their support, including donor recognition events and personalized communications to express appreciation for their contributions. 

    Qualifications/Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 3-5 years of professional fundraising experience, preferably, but not limited to, work in independent schools
    • Commitment to ethical fundraising and knowledge in annual giving, major gifts, special events, and donor relations
    • Superior interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
    • Demonstrated commitment to excellence, detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment
    • Proficiency in Google Suite
    • Database experience preferred, experience with Raiser’s Edge a plus
    • Positive attitude, relationship-building skills, a high level of self-motivation, responsibility, and a strong work ethic
    • Ability to work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents including faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and friends of the school
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • High level of diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive information

  • Athletics Engagement Coordinator

    Job Title: Athletics Engagement Coordinator Department: Athletics Reports To: Director of Athletics Position Type: Full-Time 

    Job Summary: 
    This position will be responsible for supporting the Athletics Department and its engagement with external and internal personnel which include coaches, families (current and prospective), and renters. The individual will be the coordinator of the Cavalier Club which includes facilitating season ticket holders, snack shack staffing and function, and managing the budget. The position will be the lead support for the coaching staff and Athletics Department in executing significant athletic events throughout the year, which include, but are not limited to, senior nights, prospective recruitment nights, middle school event nights, and signing day. Additional events, such as fan engagement nights, will also be considered. The position will be a hybrid of on-campus and remote.
     
    Supervisory Responsibilities: 

    Oversee the Cavalier Club and its volunteers. 
    Duties/Responsibilities: 
    1. Coordinator of the Cavalier Club and Nights of Champions 
    2. Support season ticket holders within Cavalier Club 
    3. Organize and staff volunteers for athletic contests which includes overseeing VIRTUS training. 
    4. Strategize advertisements and outreach for field board signage, digital advertising, and summer camps. 
    5. Support coaching staff and volunteers for pivotal athletic events: 
    a. Senior Night 
    b. Recruit Night 
    c. Hosting Middle School 
    d. Signing Day 
    6. Develop comprehensive digital marketing for Department events
    7. Collaborate with Advancement, Communications, and Alumni office for overlapping events before Athletic Contests 
    8. All other duties as assigned within the Athletic Department

  • Campus Minister

    Archbishop Spalding High School, in Severn Maryland, is seeking a full-time Campus Minister.  Candidates must be a practicing, fully initiated member of the Roman Catholic Church. Campus Ministry includes directing and planning retreats, worship as it relates to the preparation and implementation of liturgies, prayer and reconciliation services, as well as, service opportunities.  The available position will have a focus on the worship and service aspect, combined with opportunities for participation and/or leadership in retreats. The position reports to the Director of Campus Ministry and will work closely with a team of Campus Ministers. The ideal candidate will possess:
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
    • An enthusiastic desire to welcome, encourage, and journey with high school students
    • Exceptional organizational and time management ability, with a high level of professionalism

    Job Description:
    The Vice President of Advancement is a 12-month, full-time administrator responsible to the President. The Vice President of Advancement is responsible for managing and leading an energetic team; possesses a firm foundational knowledge of the role to realize success; and is experienced in major gift-giving for schools. This person will be excited to lead the school’s development program, including the Spalding Fund, major and planned giving, alumni relations, advancement events, and capital campaigns that are designed to raise support and funds for operating costs, building repairs and improvements, financial aid, school endowments, and other special purposes. 

    Primary duties include but are not limited to:
    • Supervise all staff in the Advancement Department
    • Serve as Archbishop Spalding’s chief fundraiser
    • Develop and manage all fundraising campaigns, including annual giving, restricted and planned giving, and capital campaigns
    • Provide vision and oversight for –
      • All annual appeals
      • Major gifts work
      • Advancement events
      • Foundation relations/grants
      • Capital campaigns.
      • Alumnae and parent engagement
      • Stewardship of constituents and donors
      • The maintenance of a comprehensive donor/constituent database
    • Serve as liaison to the Board Advancement Committee
    • Attend School Board meetings
    • Serve as a member of the President’s Council
    • Develop marketing programs and publications that support development, in conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Communications
    • Lead planning for the department and ensure the plan is achieved
    • Create and oversee the Advancement budget
    • Help coordinate all other outside fundraising activities originating in other school organizations (e.g., Alumnae Association, Parents’ Association, Booster Club, and Friends of the Arts); and
    • Perform other administrative duties pertaining to her/his position as may be assigned by the President.
    Qualifications:
    • 3-5 years of successful experience in comprehensive advancement/development programs; school experience preferred;
    • A clear understanding of and belief in the school mission;
    • Proven record of accomplishment in fundraising;
    • Knowledge of best practices in the advancement field;
    • Strong management skills and ability to build, manage, mentor, and motivate a team;
    • Ability to work within a team and collaborate with colleagues;
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills; and
    • Technology skills as they relate to the position; experience with Raisers’ Edge a plus
    • CFRE and master’s or other advanced degree preferred.
