Archbishop Spalding High School has been offering Catholic secondary education in Severn, Maryland since 1966. We are a dynamic community of almost 1,300 young women and men who learn from and lean on each other. Whether in a classroom, the chapel, an engineering lab, athletics, art studio or a stage, Spalding students have options that shape their high school journey.
Our faith infuses everything at Spalding and has created a culture that welcomes, understands, encourages and listens. As a Catholic community, we seek to educate our students’ hearts as well as their minds. Kindness, compassion and service to others are modeled and taught alongside AP Statistics or IB World Cultures. We encourage our students to participate in campus life. Over half of our students engage in an athletic activity; over a third participate in our performing arts department program. Service to the school and to the community is a priority and each student is expected to pay it forward. We are a community blessed with diverse gifts and talents. We help our students realize and use these gifts to help others and to make our world a better place.
As I near the end of my tenure at Spalding, while truly bittersweet, I am proud of what we have accomplished and excited at what is yet to come. My successor, Brian J. Kohler, is a forward thinking educator who “gets” adolescents. He is a man of faith and integrity who will continue to “bring pride to the Red and White.”
On behalf of the students and staff of Archbishop Spalding, I hope you feel welcome in our community, whether you are a prospective student, a parent, an alumnus or friend. I hope your website visit becomes a campus visit where you can feel the spirit and energy of the community of Archbishop Spalding High School. We are …
One in Christ.
