The Archbishop Spalding music program aims to provide its members with the opportunities necessary to become well-rounded musicians by establishing an educational environment that respects diverse learning styles, performance styles and practices. The Music Department holds in high regard the concepts of self-discipline, hard work, commitment, and determination. Through performing and responding to music, students develop individual skills, realize a sense of belonging, and establish connections to the community. This active participation encourages students to strive for musical excellence and become life-long participants, intelligent consumers and active patrons and advocates for the arts.
Freshman students may apply and audition for instrumental (brass, wind, percussion, strings), vocal, and piano (choral accompanist) scholarships. Students who wish to be considered for a music scholarship must submit a music scholarship application and letter of recommendation from a music teacher by the Application for Admission deadline(December 17, 2021). Please visit the Scholarship section under the Admissions tab for more details on how to complete this process.
