    As a Catholic college-preparatory secondary school, Archbishop Spalding High School is committed to challenging our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially.     Archbishop Spalding High School is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, secondary school committed to the values and teachings of Jesus Christ and rooted in the belief that “A true education aims at the formation of the human person spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically.” We believe this is accomplished by challenging and motivating students to attain their highest personal and academic potential in a diverse community that affirms the values of faith and service to others.

History of Spalding

Archbishop Spalding High School has been providing a Catholic college-preparatory education since 1963. Originally founded as a girls’ school and staffed by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Spalding became co-educational in 1973 and moved to its current New Cut Road campus. Today, the school welcomes students from over 60 middle schools across seven counties, continuing its tradition of academic excellence and faith-filled community.

At Spalding, students pursue a challenging college-preparatory curriculum while exploring a wide range of co-curricular activities and athletics. Over 98% of graduates continue their education at top colleges and universities—including all five U.S. service academies, Notre Dame, Princeton, Yale, Johns Hopkins, and the University of North Carolina—reflecting the school’s commitment to preparing students for success in the 21st century.
