The Counseling Office is offering Youth Mental Health First Aid for parents which teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders. This 8-hr training is the same one taught to ASHS teachers and staff and gives parents the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to their children and help them connect to appropriate care. It is the hope that parents will use Mental Health and First Aid as a tool similar to CPR.
This is an 8-hr certificate class but if both Saturday sessions cannot be attended, the information is free-standing. There will be a cap of 30 participants so register early, here. If you have any questions, please email Marcie Gibbons at firstname.lastname@example.org
Additional information about the course can be found in the attached PDF.

Next week, we will test our new emergency messaging system, BrightArrow. Our most common use of this system is for weather delays/closings and other emergency changes in schedules. These messages will be sent out via phone calls, emails, and text messages. We will send out more information about how this service works next week.
BrightArrow gets its contact information directly from the profile information in the Spalding Portal. In order to verify your information, we will issue a Profile Update Form in the Spalding Portal later today. This form will remain open for the next week. We urge you to take this opportunity to update your profile information: address changes, phone number changes or additions, email changes, etc.
Just like the Handbook Acknowledgement Form that many of you have already filled out, the Profile Update Form will be available once you login to the Portal at archbishopspalding.org. If you do not see a link directly to the forms via a yellow banner across the top of the page, click your name in the upper right, then click Profile & Forms and select the Profile Update Form.

Entering campus from New Cut Road, there is only ONE ENTRANCE and ONE EXIT. The entrance is the closest driveway to I-97 and the exit is the second road on campus. Yesterday, a gray minivan entered campus via the exit and could have caused a head-on collision. Please be alert to traffic patterns and signage on and around campus.
STOP for all pedestrians in the crosswalks. In the afternoons, the crosswalk leading from the corner of the school to the student parking lot by the softball fields has been particularly hazardous. Please slow down and yield for students heading to the parking lot.
Please do not make a right hand turn from the parking lot by the edge of the front soccer field to head back towards the school building. That portion of the exit driveway that is adjacent to the parking lot is one way only.
Please slow down and be aware, be patient with other drivers; especially our new drivers, and stay safe!
