The information that you provide in the Title I Family Income Survey will help to determine the level of funding for the Maryland Textbook & Technology Funding Program and, as funding is available, the Nonpublic Aging School Program. It will also help to determine the amount of funding that will be allocated for Title I services to both public and private school children in our city/county. Lastly, it will help to determine the level of discount that our school will receive for the School and Libraries Universal Service Program or E-Rate Program. The information requested on the form stays at our school and is CONFIDENTIAL. Providing us with all information requested on the form might help us receive more funding for textbooks, a greater discount on technology, and increase the educational services we are able to provide to our students.

The School Counseling Office welcomes ninth graders and their families. We have started meeting with 9th grade students individually to get to know them and to make sure they are adjusting to high school. Please let us know if your student is having any difficulties academically, socially or emotionally so we can help you support them.
Junior Parents! It’s already time to plan for the Junior Ring Dance! Please join us for our first meeting on Wednesday, September 26th at 7pm in the performing arts center. We need volunteers for food, decorations, games, door prizes, & set-up/clean-up! If you are unable to attend, but would like to volunteer, please e-mail the parent association: ASHSPA@spaldinghs.org
Next week, we will test our new emergency messaging system, BrightArrow. Our most common use of this system is for weather delays/closings and other emergency changes in schedules. These messages will be sent out via phone calls, emails, and text messages. We will send out more information about how this service works next week.
BrightArrow gets its contact information directly from the profile information in the Spalding Portal. In order to verify your information, we will issue a Profile Update Form in the Spalding Portal later today. This form will remain open for the next week. We urge you to take this opportunity to update your profile information: address changes, phone number changes or additions, email changes, etc.
Just like the Handbook Acknowledgement Form that many of you have already filled out, the Profile Update Form will be available once you login to the Portal at archbishopspalding.org. If you do not see a link directly to the forms via a yellow banner across the top of the page, click your name in the upper right, then click Profile & Forms and select the Profile Update Form.
The Office of Risk Management, in conjunction with the Division of Schools, is pleased to once again offer a Student Accident Insurance program for all school families, including pre-k, for the school year 2018-2019. At a very low cost, this accident coverage is an excellent way to defray the costs so many families incur when an accident occurs, especially since there are no deductibles. There are seven coverage plans available for purchase, all offering both a low-option as well as a high-option. All coverage plans have a $25,000 Maximum Benefit limit. Please click here https://archbishopspalding.myschoolapp.com/ftpimages/906/download/download_2920420.pdf to view the brochure that provides a very clear explanation of the coverage options. Please take a few moments to review the brochure, and determine if this coverage can provide a cost-effective supplement to your family’s insurance portfolio.
Archbishop Spalding Athletics is pleased to announced that they are joining the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Network. All athletic contests taking place on Whittles Field, Love Field or in our Main Gym this school year will be broadcast live over the Internet through the NFHS Website. For a monthly, yearly or seasonal plan, even if you are unable to make the game, you can watch from your smartphone, tablet, computer or Apple TV. Go to NFHSnetwork.com and search for “Archbishop Spalding”. Then click on “follow” to stay up to date on all Spalding events. GO CAVS!
Entering campus from New Cut Road, there is only ONE ENTRANCE and ONE EXIT. The entrance is the closest driveway to I-97 and the exit is the second road on campus. Yesterday, a gray minivan entered campus via the exit and could have caused a head-on collision. Please be alert to traffic patterns and signage on and around campus.
STOP for all pedestrians in the crosswalks. In the afternoons, the crosswalk leading from the corner of the school to the student parking lot by the softball fields has been particularly hazardous. Please slow down and yield for students heading to the parking lot.
Please do not make a right hand turn from the parking lot by the edge of the front soccer field to head back towards the school building. That portion of the exit driveway that is adjacent to the parking lot is one way only.
Please slow down and be aware, be patient with other drivers; especially our new drivers, and stay safe!
