Boys Volleyball Finishes Season with Best Record in Nearly a Decade

The boys’ volleyball team concluded the regular season with a record of 12 wins and 6 losses, the highest number of wins in nearly ten years. The team also earned a #5 seed in the playoffs for their efforts.

One of the younger athletic programs at Spalding, boys’ volleyball has been steadily improving its roster size and skill level to make a significant jump in the standings this season. In addition, the increase in physical size and strength was also evident as the Cavaliers nearly tripled their win total from last season.

The Cavaliers traveled to Gilman in the pivotal #4 v. #5 seeded matchup and struggled in their A Conference playoff debut, falling in straight sets. However, the foundation for future success has been laid for seasons to come.

‘I could not be more proud of what this team has accomplished this season,’ third-year head coach Eric Raynor stated. ‘We’ll take this playoff loss on the chin a bit, but it absolutely does not define our season. The hard work and dedication of this team makes me very proud and excited for next year.’

With only two graduating seniors and a host of younger talent on junior varsity, the team looks to reload for the 2024 campaign.
